The best retirement plan that lets you be where you want to be.
Robert is 65 and widowed. He wants to make sure he can remain a dynamic part of his active community in Pittsburgh, PA. Read on to learn more about his journey. Robert chose an in-home only program.
“I live in Pittsburgh. I am a mechanical engineer and I don’t want to retire. I belong to a running club, love to explore museums, go to home games and to the theater. My children are grown and independent. I want to keep my home because they do like to come visit and truly be home for a few days.
I don’t feel like I have immediate health-care concerns, but my mom always said to save for that rainy day. Years ago, I invested in long-term care insurance just to erase the impact a “rainy day” would have on me and my late wife. I saw a Longwood at Home brochure at my gym and read about the Stay-at-Home concept. Longwood at Home covers me should that rainy day arrive.
I chose an affordable plan that covers only in-home care which is fine for me now. I know that as long as I remain healthy, I can move to a different Longwood plan, so that’s a great option. I’ve held on to my long-term care insurance and it works nicely with this plan. This plan will cover for the first 90 days in which any health issue could come up, while long-term care insurance takes 90 days to kick-in. I don’t like surprises, which means I like to plan for any eventuality. I want to always be that rock for my kids. Longwood at Home gives me all that.”
